Black-Necked Swan Babies Drawing Lots of Attention at
Wildlife World Zoo, Aquarium & Safari Park!

Wildlife World Zoo, Aquarium & Safari Park is excited to announce the hatching of several black-necked swans!

It’s no secret that when you visit Wildlife World’s 100-acre park, one can expect to see hundreds of different birds, including several species of water fowl. The park’s history with black-necked swans dates back 33-years from when the zoo first opened. For the first time in 33 years, the black-necked swans have successfully hatched babies. While all species are unique in their own right, Wildlife World’s black-necked swan family is gaining a lot of popularity among the park's visitors. The babies, called cygnets, stay close to their parents and have been spending their days riding around on their parents’ backs!

Black-necked swans are inhabitants of the wetlands in southern South America. Like other Swans, both the male and female swans take part in the nesting process, from building the nest to taking care of the young. The swans lay four to seven eggs at a time. The parents then take turns incubating the eggs and work as a team in rearing the young. The females lose much of their body weight while nesting, so after the chicks hatch, the males care for the cygnets while the females feed. The black-necked swan babies are whiter in color than any other species of swan cygnet!

Wildlife World’s black-necked swan babies can be seen on exhibit in Adventure Land across from the Soaring Eagle Zipline, hitching a ride on their parents back!!

With more than 600 species & 6000 animals on display, there are always new arrivals at Wildlife World! Other babies on display include mountain lion cubs, Austin, the reticulated giraffe, Arizona’s first marine mammal, Sunny the Sea Lion, black swans, javelina, wallaby, several hoofed animal species, including llamas, gazelle, African blue duikers, and oryx, a variety of primate species, and other youngsters throughout the 100-acre park.

Wildlife World’s keepers and veterinarians have raised dozens of species of wild and endangered animals over the past quarter century and strives to maximize genetic diversity with their breeding programs. As an USDA licensed, private institution, accredited by the Zoological Association of America (ZAA) and the Alliance of Marine Mammal Parks & Aquariums (AMMPA), Wildlife World Zoo, Aquarium & Safari Park receives zero taxpayer funding. No tax dollars have ever been spent to build or operate Wildlife World in its 33-year history.

Wildlife World Zoo, Aquarium & Safari Park is located at 16501 W. Northern Ave., Litchfield Park, AZ (SE corner of State Route 303 and Northern Ave.) Open seven days a week, 365 days a year, including all holidays. Zoo exhibits are open from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (last zoo admission is at 4:30 p.m.) Aquarium exhibits are open from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Admission includes access to the Zoo, Aquarium and Safari Park.
